Maya is a published author, and is involved in local quilting and gardening clubs. Toby has been a member of the Oakdale Community Band for 10 years.

Three of their children, Karin, Kenneth and Susan, live in San Jose and Gary lives in Oakdale. They also have two grandchildren, Laura in San Jose and Michael in Oakdale.
