The Oakdale Swim Masters will be hosting a swim fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Oakdale High School. The event will be a cancer awareness fundraiser at the Aquatic Center. It will be associated with the Fattal Foundation to help current patients and their families. There will be over 30 adults and youth swimmers participating throughout the day. The event is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.

This swim fundraiser is open to registered USMS and USA swimmers. Suggested donations are $20 and swimmers can register at swimoakdale@yahoo.com. Be sure to include your name and event donations will be collected day of event.

There will be a special Honor Relay at the end of the event. Each swimmer can swim an additional 50 or 100 yards to recognize someone who is battling cancer or lost their battle with cancer.

The Fattal Foundation is a non profit 501 (c)(3) organization based in Modesto, whose donations directly benefit Stanford University Medical Center’s Bone Marrow Transplant Department and their patients in financial need. Some reasons for bone marrow transplants include: bone marrow damage after certain diseases, infections or cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma or multiple myeloma or damage to marrow after chemotherapy.

One hundred percent of the donation eases financial burdens and helps patients and their families to be able to concentrate on their health and recovery. Stanford’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program is able to assist patients from their donations through a streamlined process that benefits patients with immediate assistance. Donations support patients with gas cards, grocery cards, phone cards, household expenses, hotel and apartment stays, and transportation to treatment, hospital parking fees, health co-payments, guided imagery treatment, tea and cookies, chair massages, patient treatment calendars, respirator covers and patient family room with internet access.
