Vic Sward was born March 6, 1939 in Turlock, CA. A resident of Oakdale, he always thought of Turlock as his home.
Vic married the love of his life Gail Antifae in 1961 and together they raised two children. In 1966 they started Vic Sward Trucking and over the span of 45 years they built Sward Trucking Inc.
Vic was larger than life, and along with his wife, very community orientated. Spending time with his family and friends meant everything to Vic and he enjoyed tinkering with various projects and bantering with his friends.
Vic was a member of the Arrowhead Club, past President of the California Trucking Assoc., and past member of the Oakdale Golf & Country Club, as well as an Oak Valley Hospital Foundation Board Member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Martha Sward and his wife of 47 years, Gail Sward. Vic is survived by his daughter, Saundra Sward; son, Eric Sward; granddaughter, Sara (Greg) Shipman; grandson, Nic (Kim) West; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kaidyn, Cole, Case, and Cree; as well as his companion, Pam Dallas. Vic is also survived by his two brothers & two sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 18, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 19. Both services will be held at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
