Seth James Frias, 28, of Chula Vista died Saturday, Oct. 16 at Naval Medical Center, San Diego.

He was a native of Modesto. He lived in Chula Vista for two years.

Mr. Frias was a second class petty officer serving in the U.S. Navy for the past eight years.

He is survived by his parents, James and Michelle Frias of Oakdale; daughter, Catherine Frias of Modesto; sister, Shaina Frias of San Diego; brother, Judah Frias of Long Beach; grandparents, William and Evelyn Frias of Knights Ferry, Loretta Buie of Oakdale; great-grandmother, Flossie Buie of Oakdale.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 at River Oak Grace Community Church. A funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 also at the church. Burial with military honors will be at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon.
