classic car
Classic cars will be on display Saturday, Aug. 26 in Valley Home.

All are welcome to attend some special activities in Valley Home this weekend, with a car show among the festivities on Saturday, Aug. 26.

The show will be staged at the Valley Home Fire Station, 13200 Valley Home Road, running from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; organizers anticipate a wide variety of classic vehicles to be displayed. There will also be hot dog and tri tip dinners for sale, and members of the Valley Home School sixth, seventh and eighth grade classes will be selling cold lemonade with proceeds to benefit their trip to Washington, DC.

Also on Saturday evening, there will be a formal presentation to recognize the late Jerry Benedix, who served the Valley Home community for several decades as its fire chief.

The ‘Summer Fun’ car show event will also feature entertainment and proceeds from the events will go to the Valley Home Park fund for maintenance, insurance, utility bills and more.

Presentation of the plaque honoring Chief Benedix is scheduled for 6 p.m.; it will be conducted near the front door of the firehouse and all are welcome to attend.
