Registrar of Voters office continues the ballot count

Additional vote by mail ballots have been added to the Election Night vote count in Stanislaus County, said County Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters Donna Linder, who released an update on the canvass of the Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election.

These unofficial updated tally results have been posted on the election website, www.stanvote.com

The Elections Office continues to process the remaining approximately 5,120 vote-by-mail ballots, Linder said, which includes scanning the vote by mail envelope to credit voters with casting a ballot, checking the signature on each envelope against the signature located on each voter’s original affidavit of registration, sorting ballots, and preparing for count.

Approximately 90 provisionally voted ballots, 167 conditional ballots and over 410 miscellaneous will require in-depth examination.

The duplication process involving damaged, military, and overseas ballots to enable them ultimately to be counted is in process and is anticipated to continue throughout the canvass.

The one percent hand tally of the vote is underway, and will continue until complete, Linder said.

The Elections Office processes any timely ballots received. California Law requires if a signature is missing or does not match a voter be notified no later than eight days prior to certification of the election. The voter can return the notice up until two days before certification.

California law requires certification of this election to be on or before Thursday, April 4, 2024, which is 30 days following Election Day.
