Pumpkins still rolling in the Ferry
PR 1

A longstanding tradition was back for another year in Knights Ferry, with the population of the small community swelling for the day on Sunday, Nov. 1. The first Sunday after Halloween has featured the annual Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll for more than 60 years and this year offered up plenty of competition. There are rolls in multiple age groups. As competitors line up their roll and try to get it closest to the finish line, others watch to see what type of strategy might work best. And once the gourd is set on its route, rollers typically watch with anticipation in hopes they might be the winner.

Many people make a day of it, with sign-ups for the Pumpkin Roll starting at 10:45 a.m., and the youngest age group, those up to five-years-old, rolling on the tennis courts at noon before the main competition begins on Main Street. Coveted trophies are presented to the winners in each of the male and female age divisions.

There are also food options, merchandise vendors, treats, and the chance to enjoy stopping by the various stores and businesses in Knights Ferry to see what the community has to offer.
