Machete-Wielding Suspect Eludes Authorities

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies are continuing the investigation into a late night incident on Sunday, Feb. 10 after being dispatched to the area of Sonora Road and Ellen Street, Knights Ferry, in regards to a possible stabbing.

Deputies located a 45-year-old male victim and his girlfriend in the area. According to the police report, both were intoxicated and uncooperative regarding the details of what happened. Deputies were able to determine that the victim and his girlfriend had exited a restaurant in the area when they noticed a subject walking down the street who was not from Knights Ferry. They confronted this unknown subject, deputies said, and ordered him to leave town as they continuously harassed him. During the confrontation the unknown subject pulled out a machete and struck the victim’s arm, causing a deep laceration.

Deputies searched for the responsible party, but they were unable to locate the subject.

Although the victim and his girlfriend were uncooperative, deputies were able to develop investigative leads on a possible suspect. The incident was reported about 10:40 p.m. Sunday.
