On a beautiful autumn afternoon just as school let out, Oakdale Mayor Pat Paul presented a plaque of appreciation to the Oakdale High School S-Club at Mustang Circle during a club gathering on Thursday, Sept. 25. The club was recognized by the city for its continued maintenance and upkeep of Mustang Circle.

“This is a wonderful way to thank the students for their hard work turning Mustang Circle from an unsightly weed patch to a beautiful landscaped symbol of the Mustang spirit,” said Paul when making the presentation.

The Oakdale High School S-Club, sponsored by the Oakdale Soroptimist Club, starting working on improving Mustang Circle in 2013. Through the City of Oakdale’s CIVICS Volunteer Program, an Adopt a Park agreement was signed that provides for the continued maintenance and upkeep of Mustang Circle by the S-Club members.

After partnering with Alfred Mathews GMC Cadillac and Buick owners, Paul and Holly Caron and the City of Oakdale, they were able to complete the transformation of the circle to the beautiful area present today.

Mike Hancock, Volunteer Coordinator for the CIVICS program said the city thanks the S-Club members for agreeing to maintain Mustang Circle and for helping the City of Oakdale to reduce maintenance costs in the future. In addition, the organization is grateful for the generous support of Alfred Matthews GMC Cadillac and Buick in providing the S-Club with the support necessary to complete the project.
