Oakdale Animal Shelter Seeking More Volunteers

The Oakdale Animal Shelter, 9800 Liberini Avenue, serves Oakdale and Riverbank and they are in need of volunteers Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., unless otherwise noted.

Do you love animals? Do you have time in the morning to help the shelter animals?

Dog Walker - walks and exercise dogs of all sizes. Socialize and comfort dogs. Teach basic skills such as “sit” and “down.” Assist with temperament testing. Talk to potential adopters about personalities, temperaments, and responsible pet care.

Cat volunteer - socialize and comfort cats available for adoption in the Cat Adoption Room. Help maintain cleanliness of the cat adoption room and the Cat Condo. Talk to potential adopters about personalities, temperaments, and responsible pet care.

Adoption and special events - assist with adoption or other special events on and off site. (Offsite adoption event help is usually needed Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Other special event times may vary).

Pet transport volunteers needed to transport dogs or cats to local and out-of-town rescue organizations. Days and hours will vary. Having own crates is helpful, but shelter will provide crates if needed. Provide transport of shelter pets to local vet for spay/neuter appointments, rabies vaccines, or other vet care.

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Background checks are required. Applicants are required to have email address and internet access. Dog walkers, off-site adoption volunteers, and transport volunteers should have a cell phone.
