Runners and walkers – more than 150, by some estimates – toed the line and took part in the Don Osborne Memorial Run on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Often having to deal with rainy weather, participants and race organizers alike welcomed sunny skies and cool, but not cold, temperatures for the pair of Saturday morning events. This year was the 28th year for the run, with both a 5k and a one-mile run/walk offered.

The Oakdale Lions Club puts on the Don Osborne Memorial Run every year; it is also known as the Run for the Library and drew participants from across all age groups. Medals were provided to the top three finishes in each age divisions for both races and the top overall male and female winners in each race earned gift certificates as well. The awards presentation followed the conclusion of the races, with the one-mile runners hitting the course first, followed by the 5k participants.
