Boschetti, a retired Naval accountant who always dreamed of putting her journalistic roots to good use, has found her calling in the creation of customized books for people looking to preserve a moment or a lifetime.
While Boschetti has been doing this privately and quietly for friends and family for the past 10 years, she knew the time had come to widen her base by going forward with her dream to open a studio/office, which is exactly what she’s done.
Her new space on North Second Avenue, artfully decorated with soothing accents and comfy furniture, is delightfully chic yet relaxing, and well equipped with plenty of tissue and soft lighting as sometimes those trips down ‘Memory Lane’ are fraught with emotional pit stops, said Boschetti.
“When you take someone down their life story, it’s quite an experience,” Boschetti said, describing the interview process and what kinds of unexpected emotion pops up. “Everyone has a story. Some people are more private and others are more open. But it’s always fun.”
Boschetti has five book styles to choose from, starting at the base price of $195 for a hardbound book with white, semi-gloss paper. Additional copies of the book are offered to clients for under $100 each.
Boschetti interviews the client — as well as anyone who played a part in the client’s life — gathers photos and designs the inside content. She does books of varying themes from memorial, milestone celebrations, pre-wedding love stories, weddings, and everything in between.
“Once someone is gone, so is their story,” Boschetti said. “It’s so important to get their stories before they’re gone.”
Clients are offered one opportunity to peruse and edit the content and then following a green light from the client, the book is sent to the printer. Clients are given a week to a month turn-around, depending on the type of book.
Boschetti said she doesn’t change the information clients give her during the interview process as she wants it to read as if the client were writing the story, giving it a personal touch.
“Every book is different. I wish I could interview everyone,” Boschetti said. “My job is so worthwhile. I can’t wait to get to the office each morning.”
Boschetti, a woman born and raised near the beach, gave up her sea legs when she moved to Oakdale eight years ago.
“I’ve lived all over the world but Oakdale was where I was supposed to be,” Boschetti shared on finding the place she wanted to put down roots. “When it came time to retire I knew this was where I wanted to be.”
And since making Oakdale her home, she’s since enticed her family to follow, which is just perfect for Boschetti.
“I love this town and the people,” Boschetti said. “This town has more stories than any place I’ve ever known.”
Boschetti will be having a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Aug. 10 at 11 a.m.
