The annual Distinguished Young Women of Oakdale program is scheduled for this Saturday, March 11, at 7 p.m. at the Magnolia School Auditorium. Soroptimist International of Oakdale has sponsored the program for the past 29 years. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children and students and may be purchased at the event. The doors will open for tickets and seating at 6:30 p.m.

Oakdale’s program features 10 participants from the Class of 2018. The first five were featured in the March 1 edition of the Oakdale Leader. The remaining five are:
Katherine Holmes
Katie has participated in the Leadership Classes at Oakdale High School and Oakdale Junior High, as well as being Sophomore Class President last year. She was selected to attend a Rotary Leadership Camp to further her leadership skills. Katie has participated in choir as well as volleyball, softball, basketball, and soccer and is currently on the Varsity Golf Team at OHS. Off campus, Katie has been active in Girl Scouts, 4H, Love Oakdale, and served as a sixth grade outdoor education counselor and Sierra View Elementary School helper. Katie is a member of the California Scholarship Federation and Link Crew. She has received Academic and Athletic Block O awards as well as a 4.0 GPA medal, Excellence in Leadership Awards, Scholar Varsity Athlete Award, and several Student of the Month nominations from both Oakdale Junior High and OHS. Her interests include food science/biochemistry, marine biology, and residential architecture. She enjoys paddle boarding and kayaking. Katie plans to attend a four-year university and major in journalism. Cheering Katie on are her parents Jane and Jeffrey Holmes, sister Anna, and her beloved extended family.
Vienna Juarez
With an interest in the medical field, Vienna plans to attend a four-year university and study nursing following graduation from Oakdale High School. At OHS, Vienna participates in the Leadership Class and on the Volleyball Team. She is a member of the California Scholarship Federation. Vienna has received awards in Science Olympiad and Gymkhana events. Currently, Vienna is a junior volunteer at the Oak Valley Hospital and Care Center. Vienna also enjoys volunteering at her church helping with vacation bible school, children’s liturgies, and youth group projects. Her interests include learning new languages, conservation, helping people and animals, surfing and hiking. Vienna’s proud supporters include her parents Lorena and Gabriel Juarez and sisters Giselle and Brisa.
Breanna Morgan
Breanna is a member of the Associated Student Body (ASB) at Oakdale High School as well as FFA, the Photography Club, and the Varsity Tennis Team. She also participates in 4H. Breanna received the Most Dependable ASB Award, Chamber of Commerce Junior Achievement Second Place Award, and numerous 4H awards. Her community service includes work with the International Order of the Rainbow Girls, Oakdale Youth Soccer Association, Oakdale Youth Wrestling Tournaments, Masonic Lodge dinners, and 4H projects for care centers. Breanna enjoys reading, photography, spending time with friends and family, hunting, and writing. Following graduation from OHS, Breanna plans to attend the University of the Pacific and study dentistry or dental hygiene. Supporting Breanna in all of her endeavors are her parents Sandi and Patrick Casey, brother Alan, and sisters Paige and JayLynn.
Allison Reberg
Allison currently serves as a tutor in the Literacy Center at Oakdale High School. She also participates in the Service and PHAST Clubs as well as Model United Nations. Previously, Allison has participated in the Academic Decathlon and Science Olympiad teams as well as Show Choir. Allison has earned her Academic Block O for achieving academic excellence in the classroom. Off campus, Allison serves her community as a junior volunteer for Oak Valley Hospital. She takes singing lessons and enjoys yoga, hiking, and golf. Allison’s interests include psychology, criminal psychology, Broadway and musical theater, singing, travelling, and art. After graduation from OHS, Allison plans to attend a four-year university and study criminal psychology, profiling, or hematology. Encouraging Allison in all that she does are her mom and stepfather, Patricia and Oscar Dominguez.
Natalie Verduzco
Natalie is active in sports at Oakdale High School, participating on the Valley Oak League’s 2015 and 2016 Champion Cross Country teams as well as the soccer team. She has earned her Athletic Block O for her efforts. Natalie also participates in the Hispanic Youth Leadership Council Club. She has been honored as Student of the Month and received an American Association of University Women speech competition award. Natalie is a child care volunteer for her church as well as a vacation bible school leader. She also volunteers at her neighborhood food stand and assists with Christmas gift donations for children. Natalie’s interests include cross country, gym exercise, spending time with family, travel, and collecting clothes for donations. After graduation from OHS, Natalie plans to attend UC Davis and study education and business management. Proudly supporting Natalie are her parents Hypatia and Salvador Verduzco and sisters Perla, Elizabeth and Miranda.
