History has been made and a new chapter has begun.

With the support of the State of California Cattlewomen, The Mid Valley CowBelles was organized in November 2014. This new unit is comprised of cattlewomen from eastern San Joaquin County, Stanislaus County and extending into Merced and Mariposa counties. Candy Peterson was elected President with Millie Kraus as Vice President.

The beginning membership is 57 strong. The function of this organization is the promotion of the beef cattle industry which is the fifth largest commodity in California. This group of cattlewomen will teach the public about the beef industry and focus a better understanding to consumers on where their food originates.

They will sponsor agriculture scholarships, meet with politicians, law enforcement and join with AgVenture and Ag in the Classroom. They will teach “Ten Ways to Love a Cow” and inform school kids about the by-products from the beef cow.

This organization will team up with local Rotary Clubs and the County Office of Education to participate in the Rotary Read-In, teaching children about farm animals.

For more information about the organization or how to get involved, contact Judy at 209 886-1139.
