Final Tax Help

Make time to stop by this Friday, April 8 when a VITA volunteer will be at the Family Support Network, 1405 W. F St., in Oakdale to prepare your taxes free of charge. Call or come in to make an appointment; call 847-5121 ext. 10. This will be the last opportunity this tax season for the free assistance.

 

Singing Seniors

The Singing Seniors in Oakdale meet every Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Gladys Lemmons Senior Center. Retired OHS Band Teacher Ron Quintanal assists the group as their leader each week. The vocal enthusiasts are currently seeking male singers as well as those with varying range from soprano to alto. Professional experience not a requirement. The Singing Seniors also perform with the Oakdale Community Band. Their next concert will be Tuesday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m.

 

Garden Field Trip

Oakdale Garden Club will host an Iris Gardens Field Trip on Tuesday, April 19. Participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Oakdale City Parking Lot, located at South Yosemite and East G Street. Carpooling is recommended for the event. The group will caravan for a free tour of the private Ceres Iris Garden of T. Hawkins, who will also offer a lecture on the care and planting of irises. The event is estimated to conclude around 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by a no host luncheon at the Fruit Yard Restaurant. Teacher Fair

The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) is hosting a Teacher Recruitment Job Fair on Saturday, April 9 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at SCOE’s downtown offices, 1100 H St., Modesto. This year’s job fair is open to fully-credentialed teachers or intern-eligible candidates and credential completion candidates by August 2016. Admission is free. Those who not pre-registered will be admitted into the fair at 10 a.m.

 

Bluegrass Show

The 2016 Bluegrass Series continues at West Side Theatre in Newman with its fourth show of the series, Red Dog Ash and Windy Hill, set for Saturday, April 9.
