Women’s Club Gathering

Oakdale Women’s Club will host its Second Annual New Membership Tea on Thursday, Aug. 31 from noon to 2 p.m. The event will be hosted in the Member’s Lounge of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, 243 N. Stearns Road, Oakdale. Oakdale Women’s Club is a not for profit organization whose goal is to promote civic improvements for the City of Oakdale. The tea is free to the community. Museum Hosts Bunco

Oakdale Museum and History Center will host its 2017 Bunco Fun Night on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Gene Bianchi Community Center. The event is open to all community members, including those new to Bunco, who will be taught to play. A $20 donation is requested and will include snacks and prizes. Park Mystery Event

The final summer session of History’s Mysteries at Columbia State Historic Park is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2. To purchase tickets, visit the park museum or www.friendsofcolumbiashp.com to buy online or contact the park office at 209-588-9128. Costumed volunteers and park staff present a live reenactment and solve a historical case during this interactive event. Reservations are highly recommended. Cost is $5/adults and $1/children. Each child under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

 

Sail With A Veteran

Sail to Recovery will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 23; it’s a program of the local American Veterans First organization. Sail to Recovery will run from noon to 5 p.m. at the Stockton Sailing Club, 4980 Buckley Cove Way in Stockton. Registration is being accepted now and volunteers with boats are being sought; you can volunteer your boat and register as a skipper. Speechtrain Session

The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 6. Welcome Home Heroes Foundation is hosting a special Patriots Day Blues and Food Truck Festival in Tuolumne on Sunday, Sept. 10. Festivities are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and tickets, $25 apiece, are available at the Modesto and Jamestown Harley Davidson shops or at eventbrite.com. Come enjoy great blues music and the best food trucks in the area for this special Sunday celebration.
