Community Band Concert Benefits Scholarship Fund

Two special concerts in September and October are planned at the Oakdale Senior Center, 450 E. A St., Oakdale. Tuesdays, Sept. 5 and Oct. 17 are the dates; concerts feature the Oakdale Community Band and the Singing Seniors, starting at 6:30 p.m.

This is a free event but donations are appreciated and will be used for High School Student Scholarships.

A reminder that the Senior Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

The Green Bag Program for seniors, age 60-plus, who meet the income eligibility requirements, is scheduled for Thursdays, Sept. 14 and Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Senior Center. Through the program, eligible seniors can receive a free 10-pound bag of fruits and vegetables. Only one bag per household; there will be a 15-minute presentation on eating healthy when you receive your bag of items. Registration forms are available at the Senior Center and more information about the program requirements are available by contacting the Healthy Aging Association at 523-2800.

 

Join the CPR and First Aid Certification Classes every third Wednesday of the month, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Senior Center. Cost is $15; register by calling the center at 845-3566 prior to the class and pay the instructor at the class. The classes are sponsored by Oak Valley Hospital District.
