It will be a busy couple of days at the city’s Gene Bianchi Community Center, with the annual Oakdale Home Show sponsored by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce on Friday and Saturday. Also, a chili cook off on Saturday will see local chefs battle for the title of Best Chili.
The home show is being staged for the 12th year and features free admission. The spring show runs Friday, March 17 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with vendors inside and outside the Community Center. The focus is on home, lawn, garden and more, with local businesses showcasing their products and services as area residents prepare for spring home improvement projects.
The Oakdale Chamber Chili Cook Off, meanwhile, is being hosted for the first time in conjunction with the Home Show. It will be open for tasting during the day on Saturday; tickets are $5 and are good for one tasting for each chili entered. Tasters will also fill out ballots to help pick the cook off winner. Both professional and amateur chefs will be competing in the event.
