On July 4, 2006, around midnight, 28-year-old Joseph ‘Joey’ Ross was stabbed to death while walking home from his business in the City of Oakdale. The Oakdale Police Department has pursued and exhausted all investigative leads and his murder remains unsolved.

On Jan. 6, 2009, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger offered a reward in the amount of $50,000 leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Ross’s death.

Citizens Against Homicide, a private non-profit organization in conjunction with CBS Outdoors, have placed a “reward for information” billboard-size ad along Highway 108, 200 feet west of Crane Road, in Oakdale regarding the case.

There are no fewer than three billboards along this stretch of the highway. The billboard selected bears number 7454. The ad is designed to alert the public to the reward and will provide the phone numbers of the Oakdale Police Department and Stanislaus County District Attorney Investigator Marc Burrell for tips regarding the case. CBS Outdoors installed the ad on Monday, Jan. 25.

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contact the Oakdale Police Department at 847-2231, or D.A. Investigator Marc Burrell at 525-5550.

For questions regarding the billboard ad, contact Sgt. Mike Eggener of the Oakdale Police Department at 847-2231 or Gene Cervantez, Victim Advocate for Citizens Against Homicide, at 728-2873.
