Oakdale Police responded to an apparent suicide attempt that occurred in the 300 block of S. Sierra Avenue on Sunday, July 23.

Police received a 911 call at 6:36 a.m. regarding a male subject who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Officers responded and contacted an elderly male who was in front of the residence. The male subject appeared unconscious and breathing and was transported to a local area hospital by emergency medical personnel. The details and evidence collected during the preliminary investigation appear consistent with a suicide attempt. The name of the male is not being released at this time pending family notification.
