The 2015 playoffs got underway Saturday, and the Oakdale Stampede took on the Turlock Bulldogs in the opening round. The varsity boys muzzled the Bulldogs in a 42-20 rout behind Minaya Olivo, Peyton Bradford and Steven Morris. Earlier in the regular season Oakdale dismantled Turlock 40-8. With the big win, Oakdale advances to the AFC championship game against the junior Buffaloes of Manteca.
The junior varsity boys also advanced to Saturday’s championship round after a 26-16 victory against Turlock. Derek Vermeulen slammed the door shut on the Bulldogs season on his 62-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Zeke Saffer scored three touchdowns for Oakdale in the team’s winning effort. Oakdale will take on the Ceres Seahawks in the AFC Championship game Saturday.
The young Rookies season came to a close with a 33-18 loss to Turlock.
This week’s games will be played at Manteca High School on Saturday, Nov. 14.
