Oakdale Corrals Manteca In Track And Field Meet

One week after Oakdale’s dominant run came to a close, the Lady Mustangs bounced back in a big way with wins over Manteca. After having their 88 straight league meet victories snapped, the varsity girls crushed Manteca 121-14. TJ Verdegaal won the 300 hurdles and placed second in the 100 hurdles behind teammate Cassie England. In the shot put Oakdale had Angelica Lowry finish at the top with a throw of 34 feet, five inches. Kyndall Vargas and Deonna Osmundson tied for first in the discus at 97 feet, eight inches. Madison Abell took first in the pole vault and Marnelle Salie took first in the 400 meter race.

Oakdale’s James Forkner helped power the Mustangs boys varsity team with wins in the 1600 and 3200 meter races. Oakdale won the meet 93-41. Justin Crescenti placed first in the high jump and 800 meter race. Michael Everett powered his way to a first place finish in both the shot put and discus. Francisco Vargas took first in the 100 meter hurdles.

The junior varsity girls won 72-59 and the junior varsity boys won 101-31 over Manteca on Thursday, March 30 inside The Corral.

Next up, Oakdale will host East Union on Thursday, April 6 with a start time of 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, April 8 the varsity teams will be heading to Turlock for the Hughson Invitational that is set for a 9 a.m. start time.
