Oakdale’s travel softball organization, the Oakdale Heat, has had a busy and successful spring season. Since February, both the 10U and 12U teams have traveled to tournaments throughout the Central Valley, and their talent and team work has yielded big results.

The 10U girls had a first place finish in a USSSA, United States Specialty Sports Association, tournament as well as a second place finish in an ASA, American Softball Association tournament. The 12U have played in three USSSA tournaments so far this spring, with a second and third place finish, and a hard-earned first place finish in a USA Elite Select tournament at the beginning of April. At this particular tournament, which was hosted in Sacramento, both the 10U and 12U were undefeated the entire weekend, sweeping the National Invitation Tournament in these age groups. This qualified the Heat to play at the Futures World Fastpitch Championship to be held July 17 through 23 in Orlando, Florida.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Oakdale Heat organization has grown to include a 10U, 12U, and 14U team during the various playing seasons over the past two years. Girls from Oakdale and neighboring communities are committed players in the organization, and the Heat looks forward to the bright futures awaiting these talented young ladies.
