Robert Gilbert has been spectacular for Oakdale High’s varsity boys soccer team in his final prep season with the Mustangs.

The savvy goal scorer leads all Mustangs with 23 goals on the year, adding seven assists to that tally in a 9-3-2 Valley Oak League and 13-6-3 overall season.

Gilbert has scored in 10 of the 14 league games this season, and has 10 goals in Oakdale’s last six contests. He found the net once in the 2-1 Mustang win over Manteca to clinch the third and final seed from the VOL into the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.

Gilbert also scored in a 4-1 VOL finale over Sonora last week, and earns Athlete of the Week honors from The Leader for his huge contributions to the OHS soccer program.

He will join his teammates at Union Mine on Thursday for the first round of the SJS playoffs.
