By the end of the Valley Oak League prep soccer season, opposing teams were flinching at the sight of a Lady Mustang. In tight and highly competitive league title races, Oakdale nabbed championship honors for both their varsity (11-2-1) and junior varsity (12-1-1) squads.
Both teams edged Sierra by only a few conference points, enough to collect a second straight junior varsity title and the first ever VOL championship for the varsity girls.
The varsity team landed an impressive 47-15 scoring advantage against league opponents this season, while the junior varsity players blasted opponents’ nets for an astounding 75-5 scoring advantage, taking 11 of their 12 wins by shutout.
Both teams closed the year with back-to-back wins over Manteca and Sonora to clinch outright titles. The two teams earn Athlete of the Week honor from The Leader for their impressive efforts across the regular season.
The varsity squad takes on visiting Galt in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs on Tuesday, May 17.
