In a week that saw several standout individual performances, selection for Athlete of the Week recognition didn’t come easy. In the end, the honor went to varsity volleyball player and outside hitter Kaitlin Van Ryn. The junior erupted for a thrilling serving fiesta during Oakdale’s 2-0 win over Patterson on Saturday at the Oakdale Varsity Invitational.

Van Ryn served for 25 consecutive points to shut out Patterson in a rare perfect game. It was the first such feat for the Lady Mustang server. The accomplishment made Van Ryn an irresistible choice for Athlete of the Wee, selected by The Leader.
