Jerry McPherson began his forever journey on Dec. 27, 2016. Jerry leaves his wife Retha of 55 years; daughters Kelleigh (Tim) Hansen, and Heather (Mike) Petersen; grandsons Chris Clark and Wyatt Hansen; granddaughter Hayleigh Clark and brother, Ken McPherson. Jerry was preceded in death by son, Allen, grandson, Baby Boy Clark, and great grandson Miller Clark. Parents Wallace and Luellar McPherson and brothers, Edward, Earl and Donald McPherson.
Jerry was an avid horseman. He was one of the organizers of the Mariposa Mt. Riders. He started the Mt. Riders 3-day Trail Ride with riders from all over California and surrounding states. He organized the Mt. Riders Drill Team. He carried the American flag with daughters Kelleigh and Heather carrying the state and club flags. Jerry was a horse, sheep and pig 4-H leader, a past member of the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Posse and a member of the Mariposa Masonic Lodge #24. Jerry served in the US Navy, stationed in Corpus Christi, TX, Whidbey Island, WA and Kodiak, Alaska. He moved to Lake Don Pedro to be near his passion of fishing. Want­ to-be-fishermen would follow him to learn his methods. Jerry owned an Atlantic Richfield Service Station for nine years in Simi Valley, CA. He and his brother Ken were partners for 29 years in M&M Ceramic Tile Inc. He was an Arbitrator for the California State Tile Contractors Board.
A Memorial Luncheon is scheduled for February 11, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the Lake Don Pedro Home Owners Association; 5182 Fuentes de Flores, LaGrange, CA 95329. Donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
