Hope was born April 7, 1937 to parents Jesus and Isabel Benitez. She passed away February 22, 2020 surrounded by her children. Hope attended school in Riverbank and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1955. It was at a friends wedding, that she met her husband of 38 years, Claude Serrano. She was the Maid of Honor and he was the Best Man. Hope worked for Ron’s Pharmacy in Riverbank for 13 years. From there she went to work for Contadina Cannery in Riverbank, for 18 years. She retired in 2003 from Hershey Foods in Oakdale after 15 years.
Hope loved to travel and she was very proud of the stamp in her passport that said Rome, Italy. Hope was a member of the VFW, Saint Frances of Rome Catholic Church and a longtime volunteer for the Riverbank Food Bank. She leaves behind her children, Danny Sanchez, of Oakdale, Esther Alanis (Gene), Tony Serrano, Susan Lowery (Kevin) of Modesto, and Julie Serrano of Ceres. She also leaves behind her sisters, Delfina Perez (Louie), Dolores Massey (Doug) and brother, Larry Benitez (Rhonda). She was preceded in death by her husband Claude, daughter Debbie, brother Art Benitez (Sandy), sister Mary Benitez Yule and grandson, Anthony. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 1 p.m. at The Sylvan Improvement Club, 2545 Sylvan Ave., Modesto, CA.
