Artemio Garza was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and lived-for a brief time-in Monterrey, Mexico before moving to California at the age of 17. Art met the love of his life, Rosa, while working at Hunt Wesson. In 1970, Art began working for the Oakdale Police Department and was there for five years before transferring to Modesto Police Department; he retired from MPD as a detective in 2001. Art quietly departed this life Friday, September 30, 2016. His beautiful life will forever be cherished by his children; Artemio Jr. (Bianca) Garza, Patti Knowles, Luis (Anita) Garza, and Monica (Mike) Usrey, along with eight grandchildren.
A Rosary/Vigil will be held Thursday, Oct. 6 at 6:00 p.m. and a memorial mass will be held Friday, Oct. 7 at 10:00 a.m. Both will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1225 Olive St. Oakdale.
