Valley Home 4-Hers held their annual Christmas party this week. It was filled with lots of laughter and tons of fun. The 4-Hers each brought a white elephant item to exchange…what a bunch of fun they had! During the evening they enjoyed Christmas cookies and holiday punch. While they were busy playing games and enjoying refreshments they were stunned to hear a loud crash, almost as if someone had landed on top of the building. Before anyone could dash outside to see what all of the clatter was about the door flew open and in came a jolly old man dressed in a red suit and shiny black boots. To the surprise of the 4-Hers he had a brightly wrapped package for each 4-Her and for every little brother and sister.

Snowy green pine boughs hung with beautiful red ribbons and holly berries added a magical touch to the evening as the 4-Hers enjoyed their time together. For some, the friendships made here will last a lifetime! Before this special night drew to a close the 4-Hers warmed up with hot chocolate and headed out into the cold frosty night to decorate our community for Christmas. As many in Valley Home were sound asleep this group of dedicated elves set about bringing the beauty of Christmas to Valley Home for all to enjoy.

A special thank you to our 4-Hers whose community pride and spirit is always evident throughout Valley Home.

The 4-Hers decorated the town just in time for our hometown Christmas parade this Friday at 5:30 p.m.! The lighted parade will line up in front of the old school this year and all are welcome to participate. Bring your “safe” entry with lights and be in line at 5:15 p.m. An adult must be with each entry. Look for Jenna Heaton, Garret Bryhni or Luke Pouncy that evening if you have any questions about the parade lineup.

Remember after the parade the little tree in the park will be lit with hundreds of glistening lights, strung with popcorn, cranberries and a magical night will ensue! Immediately after the tree lighting the twinkle of holiday lights will welcome each of us into the warmth of the school gym for a delicious Christmas dinner. You may bring a dish to share or just come eat and enjoy visiting and sharing in the spirit of Christmas (Even visit with Santa himself). The 4-H will be providing turkey, ham, side dishes, Christmas dessert, holiday punch, coffee, and hot cinnamon cider. Come as you are and enjoy this truly magical evening in Valley Home!

Our Grand Marshall for 2013 is a friend to many … A man who loves his community and the people who live here … Mr. Tony Taro!
