You know the dog days of summer are upon us when the sweltering heat causes the ripest, juiciest watermelons to crack open in the hot summer sun. For the younger generation it is a wonderful treat to find a cool shady spot in the garden and eat the heart out of a huge ripe watermelon. Of course, the very best watermelons are grown in the back yards of Valley Home!
Even though Autumn is still a ways off it is important to remember our Fall Harvest Festival Biggest Pumpkin contest. Be sure your pumpkins are planted so they will grow huge and you can win this fun contest. More information in September.

Michelle McKenzie shares with us all that the State of California, Department of Water Resources website has a great deal of public water data on its website. The website is water.ca.gov. From there, you can search for CASGEM (California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring Program) and its Water Data Library which contains recorded data from private wells that the State uses to monitor water levels. There is a great deal of data on this website. Additionally, on this website, you can print the form you need to obtain the Well Completion Report pertaining to your own property to determine the depth of your original well. You will need your Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN) and a plot map indicating the Township, Range, and Section in which your property is located. The APN is on your property tax bill and the plot map can likely be obtained on the County Assessor’s websites.
