January is a very peaceful quiet time here in Valley Home ... not a lot going on! Therefore not a lot to write about. We are, however, looking forward to a big event the first week of February. Our Valley Home 4-H is in the process of planning their annual “Box Social” fundraiser. This fun event will be held the first Tuesday of February and is sure to be a wonderful time for all. You are invited to come and support your Valley Home 4-Hers. Your support would be most appreciated. At their January monthly meeting, the 4-Hers will share ideas for box social items. The main thought for having the box social is to raise much needed funds for activities and 4-H projects. To describe exactly what the box social is, 4-Hers bring various items to be auctioned off during the evening. At first most of the items for the box social were beautiful boxes filled with delicious treats and goodies! 4-Hers still bring those gorgeous boxes and yes, they still have the most delicious cakes, pies, cookies, and other fancy pastries inside. Now, they have added fruit trees, rose bushes, and other great items to be auctioned off. There has even been a baby pig auctioned to the highest bidder. The sky is the limit when it comes to items, and the bids can range from just a few dollars to whatever a bidder would like to pay! What a fun night! Please consider coming to the box social. Remember, Valentine’s Day will be right around the corner. Can you imagine taking home a yummy six layer fudge covered chocolate cake, or maybe a lemon filled angel cake, or how about a beautiful box of chocolate dipped strawberries, a tasty batch of homemade peanut butter or chocolate chip cookies? You will find all at the Valley Home 4-H Box Social! Time, date and location will be forthcoming. Hope to see you there!
