The month of October brings many changes...with autumn comes the last harvest for many ranchers and farmers here in Valley Home...although I don’t like the dust, I do like hearing the almond harvesters bringing in another successful crop for a hard working rancher! The sweet fragrant smell of fresh hay being harvested is a smell I relish. As summer fades into fall it is a special joy to look out across a field of last harvest hay being baled. I’ve been known to stay awake late into the night just listening to the sound of the baler as hay bale after hay bale is dropped onto a freshly mowed field! Now that autumn is here we in Valley Home are especially blessed with bountiful fall harvests. Even though our gardens are slowly fading as the days get shorter, we now enjoy the beautiful fall colors, yellow squash, ears of sweet corn, giant pumpkins and colorful gourds. Topping off nature’s fall display is the trees of Valley Home, trees that soon will turn the beautiful rustic colors of autumn.
