A favorite saying was on my mind today as I wrote this week’s column, “A grateful heart knows many joys.” Over the years I have saved many of the ‘all occasion cards’ that folks have sent to me. One of my many favorites is displayed near where I write this column. Actually I keep several of those thoughtful cards in prominent places. Easy to catch a glimpse, easy to be inspired, easy to remember how much folks care. Always grateful! I hope each of you will let your worries, whatever they may be, let them go and enjoy the happy things in your life!

This past week our fourth and fifth grade students went on an overnight trip to Asilomar located near Monterey. The kids reported having so much fun while learning about tide pools, ocean life, visiting a mission and lots more!

Last Saturday our Valley Home students rode on a colorful and patriotic flatbed and trailer in the Oakdale Rodeo Parade. What fun they had as they advertised the upcoming Spring Fling Dinner Dance! Special thanks to Betty and Johnny Sphar for making this possible. The kids had a blast! Remember tickets to this “fun” fundraising dinner can be purchased by calling Meghan at (209) 351-1271 or Mrs. Nabors at (209) 847-0117. All money raised will benefit our Valley Home students.

Tomorrow, Thursday, April 13th our Valley Home students will enjoy a day of learning about Agriculture. Oakdale High FFA members will visit Valley Home and have teaching stations where the kids can learn all about agriculture. What a fun learning experience for our students! The day will begin with our local firefighters visiting the school and saying the Pledge of Allegiance with the students. Thank you to all who helped make Ag Day possible.
