“We are the Champions!” Last week our Oakdale High Football teams received much deserved awards and accolades in a standing room only ceremony! Families and friends crowded into the OHS gym to witness their favorite players receive the recognition they had worked so hard for. All players were introduced along with their hard working coaches. Oakdale coaches are well known for their wisdom, dedication and motivation. It shows every season in the Mustang football program. Starting with Freshman football all the way through the Varsity level. This past week when these talented young men received their awards and recognition, the pride that filled the gym was tremendous. Special thanks to the Sports Boosters who work so hard and give so much!

With the stormy weather of the last few weeks it seems almost all of us have clean up and repairs to do. At our house a beautiful 40 foot pine that my husband Richard had planted was uprooted and came crashing down. I love trees and this one was very special to our family. My two nephews, Jack and TJ Keaster drove out to Valley Home with chainsaws in hand to help cut the tree and help clean up. The tree missed our barn by just a few inches. As much as I love trees, I finally realize how dangerous it can be when a tree falls. Throughout Valley Home one can see there are many stories similar to ours. Downed trees, branches scattered and broken and lots of clean up. The weather report says sunny weather is on the way. Hope it gets here soon!
