As a large crowd gathered on Saturday morning to celebrate the grand opening of the new Ross Dress for Less store in the Foothill Oaks Shopping Center on East F Street in Oakdale, the Oakdale Community Concert Band, led by Mr. Ron Quintanal, former OHS Musical Director and current Director of the Oakdale Community Concert Band, opened the morning by playing some fan favorites just outside the store. From local residents excited to have a new place to purchase everything from clothes to home goods to the representatives from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Stanislaus County that were there to help more than a dozen children purchase back to school essentials, the store was buzzing with customers.
The ribbon cutting and official grand opening were on Saturday, July 18 and Ross is operating in the former Rite Aid location in the shopping center. A ‘soft opening’ was on Friday, with the formal event on Saturday.
Community partnerships are an integral part of the connection between Ross and the neighborhoods in which they do business and through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, BGCA, Ross continuously gives back to local communities, working to help children achieve their dreams, build confidence and inspire healthy living. This past weekend, between the newest Oakdale and Modesto Ross stores, more than 35 families received $100 gift cards from Ross, which they then used to purchase back to school clothing and other essentials.
Chad Brown, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the BGCA of Stanislaus County, was on hand along with Jeremy Martinez, CEO of BGCA of Stanislaus County, to provide free backpacks and distribute gift cards to local families.
“This is such a great thing to be able to do, to give these kids and their families a little help to get them ready for back to school and I am proud to be a part of it,” said Brown.
Youngsters, likewise, were enjoying the chance to pick up some new clothes and other school items, with the return to the classroom fast approaching.
For many residents, the addition of the Ross Dress for Less store will afford them more opportunities to shop locally, to purchase items for the home or clothing for the family while also seeing the once-vacant Rite Aid transformed into a new store, joining multiple exiting Ross locations throughout the region.
