The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Feb. 23 through Monday, March 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, MARCH 1
5:35 a.m. – Just after 5:30 this morning, Modesto, Ceres, and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a residential structure fire located in the 700 block of North Yosemite Avenue, in the city of Oakdale. Crews arrived to find a multi-unit, two story townhome complex with an exterior fire that extended into one of the townhouse units; a second alarm was requested, which brought additional resources to the scene. Crews made an aggressive offensive fire attack, quickly containing the spread of the fire to one unit. Crews remained on scene to provide salvage and overhaul. No injuries reported; however one dog was found deceased in the fire. Two adults were displaced by the fire.
SATURDAY, FEB. 27
Weekly station maintenance was completed.
12:28 p.m. – Modesto, Stanislaus, Ceres and Escalon crews responded to a working structure fire in the 7000 block of North Park Ridge Court in Riverbank. Crews arrived and found a fire that was burning between floors of the two story house. A second alarm was called as a precaution as the wind speed had increased and could have propagated fire behavior. Turlock City Fire assisted with Battalion coverage. The fire was contained to the void space. No injuries reported. The fire cause is under investigation.
3:53 p.m. – Engine 28 and Battalion Chief 5 responded to a smoke check at Kerr Park in Oakdale. Engine 28 located a small vegetation fire.
5 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Battalion 5, and Stanislaus Engine 26 responded to assist Escalon Fire with a large almond hull fire.
FRIDAY, FEB. 26
Firefighters trained with their companies today in preparation for the upcoming engineer exam.
THURSDAY, FEB. 25
Fire Academy was trained on forcible entry techniques today.

The Joint Fire Academy trained on forcible entry today.
Modesto Fire Department Chief 3 met with Modesto, Ceres, and Stanislaus Consolidated B shift Battalion Chiefs to discuss shared resource policies, expectations, and to develop a consistent meeting and training plan for all three shifts.
TUESDAY, FEB. 23
The Fire Chief met with crews at Station 1 today; he will be visiting each station on each shift over the next few months.
The Joint Recruit Fire Academy trained on auto extrication skills at a local auto dismantlers today.
Crews spent the morning training on water supply and pumping in preparation for upcoming fire engineer promotional tests.
