Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 2-26-25

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Monday, Feb. 24. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, FEB. 24

MST academy continued hose training at Station 17.

Battalion 2: Riverbank City Council Member Luis Uribe rode and trained with Engine 26 for a few hours.

Quint 22 assisted the Riverbank Post Office in repairing their flagpole after it was recently damaged.

Battalion 5: Crews completed weekly apparatus and equipment checks.

8:36 a.m. – MST units with mutual aid from Escalon, Farmington and Hughson Fire Districts for water tenders responded to Hinds Road for a working residential structure fire. Crews arrived on scene to find light smoke showing from a one-story, single-family residence. Firefighters found a small fire that started in a laundry room, with minor extension into the attic. Companies remained on scene for salvage and overhaul.

 

SUNDAY, FEB. 23

Battalion 2: Quint 22 worked on the cone course for engineer task book signoffs.

Battalion 5: 6:15 p.m. – Engine 29 and BC5 responded to a report of brush and trees on fire on Lancaster Road in east Oakdale. BC5 arrived on scene and found a fence and brush burning in between two houses. E29 then arrived and made access from a driveway of one of the residences. Crews stretched the front bumper line and quickly extinguished the fire.

 

SATURDAY, FEB. 22

Battalion 2: Across Battalion 2 today, Saturday drills were conducted including a makeup day of quarterly boat training at Station 24.

7:27 a.m. – Engine 24, Engine 23, Quint 22, and BC2 responded to Canal Bank Road in Waterford for someone who had fallen in the empty canal. Engine 24 arrived at scene and found an operation that was spraying gunite along the canal bank for maintenance with a worker who had fallen into the canal and broken his ankle. Crews from E24 and E23 got him up the bank and treated his injuries, OVHD ambulance then transported the patient to the hospital.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and Saturday station maintenance.

Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s for Company Level Drill Day.

6:26 a.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Quint 22, and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a report of a potential structure fire in the 1400 block of Speer in the City of Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene to a single-story residence with light smoke from a roof and gable vent. The call was upgraded to a working structure response bringing Engine 26, Engine 29, Engine 23, and Battalion 2. Upon further investigation crews found a smoldering attic fire above the living room area. Crews salvaged belongings and placed tarps down prior to pulling the ceiling to remove all the smoldering insulation without ruining the residents’ belongings. Crews remained on scene for roughly two hours to make sure all burning material was removed and continued to check on the home throughout the day. Red Cross was also called for two adults.

5:15 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27 and Battalion 5 were dispatched for an injury accident in the 11000 block of Rodden Road. Engine 28 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle rolled over on its top and checked for injuries. Crews checked the area and were unable to locate the driver of the vehicle. According to witnesses they saw the driver walk away from the scene. Crews continued to check the area but were still unable to locate the driver. Engine 28 remained on scene to assist CHP with traffic control and all other units were cleared.

 

FRIDAY, FEB. 21

Candidates for the upcoming Captain and Battalion Chief’s promotional process conducted training with MST BC’s on various fire scenarios.

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 2 personnel participated in officer development training.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

BC5 and Engine 27 participated in fire simulation training for the prospective Captain and BC candidates.

Engine 27 conducted driver training on tight access roads and limited water supplies in the town of Knights Ferry.

 

THURSDAY, FEB. 20

Candidates for the upcoming promotional testing process for Captain and Battalion Chief trained with MST BC’s on scenarios that included structure fires and wildland fires.

The MST Engineer Academy continued at the RFTC.

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 2 personnel trained on command and control of emergency incidents.

Quint 22 and Truck 5 trained in rope rescue operations.

6:18 p.m. – Engine 7, Engine 26, Quint 22 and Battalion 2 were dispatched to the 2900 block of Blacksand Creek Way in Riverbank for a potential structure fire. Engine 26 arrived on scene and investigated an odor of plastic burning. After a thorough investigation, Engine 26 could not find a hazard. All units were released.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

BC5 assisted with fire simulation training for the prospective Captain and BC candidates.

 

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 19

Modesto T5, T1, E11 and Turlock SQ32 conducted technical rescue training focusing on shoring.

The MST new hire academy went over various standpipe systems in the Modesto downtown area.

The Engineer Academy continued today with training on various specialty apparatus.

Battalion 2: The new engine at Hi-Tech EVS is nearing completion.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 9 participated in fire attack scenarios for Captain test preparation.

2:50 p.m. – Engine 27 to West F Street and Stanislaus for a vehicle vs. bicyclist. Engine 27 arrived on scene with OVHD to find one patient down in the roadway. ALS care was initiated by Firefighter/Medics. The patient was packaged and transported to a local trauma center with one Firefighter/Medic on board to assist with patient care.

6:14 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 11, and Battalion 5 to Oakdale and Claribel roads for a vehicle accident. Crews arrived on scene with three vehicles involved blocking the roadway. One patient was treated and transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

 

TUESDAY, FEB. 18

MST Briefing was held for personnel.

The Station 17 tower project has started with building scheduled for March.

The Engineers Academy continued with pumping evolutions at the RFTC.

Battalion 2: Station 26 trained with their Water Rescue.

Quint 22 pre fire planned the large ag commodities structure off Codoni Avenue.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine and Water Tender 27 trained on rural water supply and tender operations with the Engineer’s Academy.

5:25 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 26, Medic 1, Deputy Chief 6 and Battalion 5 to Patterson and Howard for a vehicle accident. Battalion 5 arrived on scene to find one motorcycle vs. a passenger vehicle with the rider down. OVHD personnel and Firefighter/Paramedics initiated ALS care, ventilating the patient and packaging them for transport. Two patients were transported to local hospitals, one with two Firefighters on board to assist with patient care. The SO MAIT Team is investigating the accident.

6:16 p.m. – Engine 28 and Battalion 5 to River Avenue for a residential fire alarm. While enroute, the reporting party told dispatchers that there was smoke in the upstairs of the home. Engine 28 arrived on scene and was able to quickly find burnt food on the stove. They remained on scene ventilating the residence.
