Overcast skies and a chilly wind gave way to some intermittent sunshine as more than 100 entries in the Oakdale Rodeo Parade made their way along F Street in downtown Oakdale Saturday morning, signaling the start of a busy weekend.

From the dancing horses to local day cares, 4-H groups to musical entertainment, the parade did not disappoint those watching from both sides of F Street, lining the roadway from Mann Avenue to just before Maag. Three different judging stands were featured along the route, giving performing groups plenty of opportunity to strut their stuff. Selected as Grand Marshal for the 2012 parade was Bill Martinelli of Knights Ferry.

Rodeo slack competition was hosted in a mud pit at the Oakdale Saddle Club rodeo grounds on Friday, with formal competition scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday afternoons following the 1:30 p.m. Grand Entry.
