Knights Ferry lost a long time resident when Phil (Bud) Frymire died last week. He leaves behind his wife, Carmen, children Rosie Paulat (Bob), Lisa Dolling (Fred) and Phillip (Lisa) and grandchildren Jessica and Justin Paulat, and Danielle Frymire. He also leaves sisters Jean Dyer, Joan Taylor and Nancy Frymire. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 7th at 11 a.m. at the Knights Ferry Oak Grove Cemetery.

Congratulations (again!) to Hanna Holland for being named Player Of the Year by All-California Collegiate Athletic Association. She is really a standout player! She plays for Humboldt State Lumberjacks. Proud parents are Megan and Chris Peterson.

Lisa Fogerty’s class hatched a butterfly and let it loose in the Kindergarten Fairy Garden. Charlee Birdsong had it on her finger and it didn’t want to leave.

At the MAC meeting Heather Wright, Park Manager, told of the day use fee of $5.00 for the parks. They have the kiosks but might not get them in use by May 1st. She also said the Army Corp denied the side channel for the salmon, as it would compromise the bridge and Indian artifacts. Kristen Doud from the County Planning Commission told of the Knights Ferry Community Plan and the Green Book have been incorporated into the County’s General Plan as an appendices. The MAC has formed a committee to update the Green Book. The Wright family is remodeling their home for a more historic look. The County has approved Knights Ferry for a test project of speed humps.

Some May dates for your calendar: May 5th is the Community Club dinner and meeting. May 8th is Mother’s Day. May 10th is the History and Museum Associates meeting at 9 a.m. at Miller’s Hall. May 11th is Garden Club at the home of Bev Hay. May 12th is the Knights Ferry School Board meeting at 5:30 at the school. May 26th is the MAC meeting at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse.

Family and friends gathered on “The Hill” to celebrate the 85th birthday of Lee Shearer.

Alec and Jordan Ray went camping at Don Pedro with their Cadet Troop and Alec stabbed a 3-foot Rattlesnake with a sharp stick and they ate some of it.

The Dolling’s geese have increased by 11 babies.
