The final month of school in Knights Ferry is always a busy one and this year was no exception. The Junior High took a field trip to iFly in Roseville to do some indoor skydiving and the eighth graders enjoyed a day at Sunsplash for their eighth grade trip. It was a great way for the older kids to end the year!
The school year for the Knights Ferry Bobcats has come to an end and the students are officially out for the summer! Last Thursday night, the kindergarteners and the eighth graders took the stage one last time to celebrate their graduation. The graduating eighth graders are Maddie Dickens, Charlee Birdsong, Rita Taylor, Shafali Sarup, James Fausto, and Austin Marconi. The eighth graders chose the theme “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present” to commemorate their final moments at Knights Ferry.

Typically, Memorial Day weekend is the beginning of a busy summer in Knights Ferry and this weekend was no exception! The good weather brought lots of visitors to town. The Fire Department was busy with a river rescue on Sunday with a helicopter searching the river and the Fire Department’s river rescue boat was ready to go on the private Fire Department ramp. With all the pleasantries of good weather, it can bring some frustrating feelings for locals. Some concerns are the extra traffic, littering, and river mischief. One of my personal goals as a local is to help with littering pick up and encouraging river safety to those around me. I am so proud of this town and I’m glad people want to visit!

We have a new Deputy Grand Master in town! At the Odd Fellows 170th Grand Lodge and Rebekah Assembly sessions held in Modesto, Fred Dolling was installed as the Deputy Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of California. Congratulations, Fred!
