There was a lot of excitement in town over the weekend! The North and South battled it out near the Covered Bridge for the Civil War Reenactments in four different skirmishes. They had a great turn out even though it rained Friday and into Saturday morning! Large crowds hiked up the hillside to enjoy breathtaking views of the Covered Bridge and watch the soldiers in hand to hand combat. Everyone enjoyed the loud booms from the cannons and the large smoke rings dissipating into the air.

The Community Club spaghetti feed was well attended by locals, Civil War reenactors, and day visitors. Tracy Griesner and crew served a delicious spaghetti dinner with salad, bread, cookies, and drinks. The Garden Club made beautiful arrangements for the tables and the Orange Blossom 4-H was making the rounds taking empty plates to the garbage and helping people to their seats.

Friday night, Randy and Mandy played a wonderful show and had the whole town dancing at the General Store.

The search for the sweet little girl who was last seen falling into the river near the Covered Bridge last week has come to an end. Her body was found by local volunteers. It is a very emotional time for everyone in town. Our town is eternally grateful for the highly trained white water trained volunteers: Jeff Hall, David Voortman, James Holman, Grant Wright, Kody Simons, Scott Wucherer, Adam Crom, Luke Franco, and Martin Sandoval. They worked with the fire department led by Zach Gardner and Heather Wright from the Army Corp of Engineers to bring the little girl’s family closure. The family held a candlelight vigil near the bridge to remember the sweet and precious, Matilda Ortiz.
