The Knights Ferry Community Club has new front doors thanks to Ken Morris and Bob Muller. They even have a center that can be removed to get large items in the hall. They look very nice and are better working than the old ones.

Seems in 1873 that Knights Ferry was a wild place. There were six homicides in only eight months; the last killing was by a man named Hacker who did in Mr. Holloden.

Java, the therapy dog, will be visiting Knights Ferry School on Monday, October 17th.

Dick Muniain celebrated his birthday with dinner at his sister’s home.

At the Community Club meeting the new front doors were admired. Now the side door will be replaced, it is the handicap entrance. The club voted on again providing a $500 dollar scholarship to an Oakdale High senior. There was a lot of discussion on the October 15th clean-up day, what tools to bring what needs to be done, etc. The Pumpkin Roll planning is moving right along. Fred Dolling will get the pumpkins, Tracy Griesner will handle the roll, Megan Peterson will handle the T-shirts, Linda Morris will oversee the signups and Gail McKinley will do the craft booths.

Condolences go out to the Brunker family on the death of Bob Sr. Bob was 88 years old. He and wife Beverly were married for 64 years. Bob’s family bought the Rancheria del Rio Estanislaus in 1940. Don’t know about the service yet.

At Knights Ferry School this week the Jog-a-Thon takes place on Friday, October 17th. Also coming up is Fire Prevention Week, Red Ribbon Week, an Earthquake drill and football games plus Halloween
