Scouting America Troop 43, Scouting America Troop 365, and Cub Scout Pack 365 of Oakdale joined forces – Scouts, leaders and families – with about 40 total participants, to place over 800 flags on veterans’ graves at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery in honor of Memorial Day. The Scouts worked with Melinda Owen of the cemetery board to pull the project together and it took about two hours to complete the placement. The units have been proud to uphold this tradition for the past several years; as the flags are placed, the Scouts salute, say each veteran’s name, and thank them for their service.
