The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Dec. 15 through Monday, Dec. 21. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

SATURDAY, DEC. 19

7:33 p.m. – Modesto, Ceres, and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a fire on River Road/Ninth Street. Crews arrived to find a well involved motor home parked along River Road near an auto wrecking yard that was threatening structures nearby. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire, minimizing damage to nearby exposures. No injuries reported, the Fire Investigations Unit is conducting a cause and origin investigation.

No time listed: Modesto, Ceres, and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire units responded to a residential structure fire in the Homewood Mobile Home Village on Mable Avenue in Modesto. Engine 7 arrived on scene to find a well involved mobile home, threatening nearby mobile homes; an aggressive fire attack was launched to knock down the fire. Crews worked in the offensive mode to contain the fire to the mobile home of origin, minimizing damage to nearby structures. One person was treated for smoke inhalation symptoms on scene then released. No injuries were reported; the Stanislaus Fire Investigations Unit was on scene. The American Red Cross was requested to assist one displaced occupant.

 

FRIDAY, DEC. 18

11:28 p.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District and Ceres Fire responded to the report of a working structure fire on the 700 block of Conejo Avenue. The crews arrived on scene to find a small fire in the kitchen that was burning around the ceiling exhaust ventilation fan. The fire extended into the attic. Crews were able to knock down the fire, limiting the damage to the kitchen.

 

THURSDAY, DEC. 17

5:04 p.m. – No address listed; Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the report of flames coming from a chimney. On scene the crews found a residence with a chimney fire. The fire was extinguished and other areas of the home were checked for fire extension.

 

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 16

2:42 p.m. – Stanislaus Engine 26, Truck 5 and BC5 responded to a motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment in the City of Riverbank. Engine 26 arrived to find two vehicles involved and began to investigate for injuries. Engine 26 was able to gain access to one of the patients utilizing extrication tools and Truck 5 was canceled enroute. Two patients were transported from scene via ambulance to local emergency rooms. Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department investigating the incident; which had one confirmed fatality.
