Souther, Absher Exchange Vows

Garrett and Megan Souther

Megan Absher of Oakdale and Garrett Souther of Sonora exchanged vows as husband and wife on March 24 in a 3 p.m. double ring ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale. Father Dick Morse officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mike and Ann Absher of Oakdale. She is an Oakdale High graduate and also received a Bachelor of Nutrition at Cal Poly and a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. She is employed at Memorial Hospital in Modesto as an R.N.

Her gown and veil were of Victorian lace and she carried hydrangeas, roses and lisianthus.

Matron of Honor was Sarah Gavin of Walnut Creek, the bride’s college roommate. Attendants were Kristi Barcelona of Livermore; cousins of the bride Kelly Fogarty of Washington, DC and Katelyn Medina of Livermore, and sister-in-law of the bride, Ali Absher of Davis. The attendants wore tiered purple street length gowns.

The groom is the son of Dave and Jeanne Souther of Sonora. He graduated from Sonora High School and Cal State Stanislaus, Turlock, and is currently working as a manager for Fastenal.

Serving as Best Man was Matt Souther of Los Angeles, brother of the groom. Ushers were Mike Souther of Sonora, brother of the groom; Matt Absher of Davis, brother of the bride; Jason Orrock, friend of the groom, from Lodi; and Shane Ammerman, a friend of the groom, from Oakdale.

The bride’s father, Mike Absher, gave her in marriage. The wedding, attended by 220, was followed by a reception at The Reata.

The couple honeymooned on Maui and plan to make their home in Oakdale.
