In their only match of the week, the Oakdale High School varsity girls soccer team lost by a 7-1 final to first place Sierra. “Maquel Besson had a great finish and Kendra Branch did a great job out on the field tonight,” said Oakdale head coach Grace Fernandes. “The girls will need to regroup as we close out league play in the next two weeks. Hopefully with some better results.”
The loss to Sierra was the team’s third consecutive loss.

The Oakdale junior varsity team lost a tough contest, 2-0, to Sierra on Monday night. Sierra scored a goal in each half to earn the road win.
“Sierra played well and our girls did as well, just one of the goals was a loose high ball in the box that our goalie just couldn’t snag,” said Oakdale head coach Joey Micheletti.
With that loss, the team is now 4-4-1 in Valley Oak League play. Oakdale’s JV girls were slated to host Weston Ranch on Monday, Feb. 3.
