SUMMER SOLSTICE
float

Clusters of friends and families, along with single rafters and couples, drifted along the Stanislaus River on Saturday, June 20. They celebrated summer’s arrival in the unofficial event that started at the beaches of Jacob Myers Park in neighboring Riverbank and listed McHenry Recreation Area in Escalon as the end point. It was all part of the ‘First Float of the Summer,’ organized by NorCal River Events. There were so many participants that park hosts had to close the entrance to Jacob Myers shortly after 11 a.m., declaring the facility filled to capacity.
