A “hat trick” is a term normally reserved for three scores in soccer, but Oakdale youth swimmer Soren Dickens nabbed the pool version of this feat by winning three events at the Speedo International Swim Meet at Ft Lauderdale, Florida in late June.
Dickens won the 200-meter breast stroke, 100 breast and 50 breast. His 100 breast time set a new meet record, and well represented the Oakdale Aquatic USA Swim Team.
Ryan Jones and Summer Thompson also attended the event with sharp times, but Dickens nabs well-deserved Athlete of the Week honor from The Leader for his hat trick in the pool. Coaches expect fast times and improved accolades as Dickens’ career progresses.
