Anneliese “Shorty” Davis pulled out all the stops in a complete tournament shut out this month in four games of work at the Tracy United Girls Invitational. She earns Athlete of the Week honors from The Leader for her performance.

Davis plays for the Oakdale United Under 14 Rage, a Division 3 competitive girls soccer team. With able support from the defensive unit in front of her on the Tracy fields, she shut down Walnut Creek in a 1-0 nailbiter, bested San Ramon forwards in a 3-0 victory and held down the fort in a 0-0 deadlock with Tracy Extreme. Her big saves paved the way to a 1-0 win over the same Tracy team in the consolation finals as well.

If “Shorty” can continue her string of dominance in the net, the Rage should be poised to continue a successful 2010 campaign on the pitch.
